Sepsis
- First, we identify the Infection like Hepatitis A, Influenza, Covid
- Second, we code the Sepsis A41.9 series
- Then we code the organ failure, if any organ was failed like kidney failure, liver failure
- Severe Sepsis
- Septic Shock
- Severe sepsis and septic shock combo codes are present, so we use combo code.
- In pregnancy case we use “O” series first then use the sepsis code
COVID-19
- Code only confirmed case
- Acute respiratory manifestation of COVID 19 for e.g. Pneumonia, Acute bronchitis, Acute respiratory distress, Lower respiratory infection, acute respiratory distress, acute respiratory failure in all condition we first code the Covid 19 then these disease, because these all are related to Covid 19.
- Sign and symptoms without definitive diagnosis of COVID 19. In that condition we assign the code of sign and symptoms like Cough, Shortness of Breath, Fever, tasteless etc.
