Sepsis
- First, we identify the Infection like Hepatitis A, Influenza, Covid
- Second, we code the Sepsis A41.9 series
- Then we code the organ failure, if any organ was failed like kidney failure, liver failure
- Severe Sepsis
- Septic Shock
- Severe sepsis and septic shock combo codes are present, so we use combo code.
- In pregnancy case we use “O” series first then use the sepsis code
COVID-19
- Code only confirmed case
- Acute respiratory manifestation of COVID 19 for e.g. Pneumonia, Acute bronchitis, Acute respiratory distress, Lower respiratory infection, , acute respiratory failure in all condition we first code the Covid 19 then these disease, because these all are related to Covid 19.
- Sign and symptoms without definitive diagnosis of COVID 19. In that condition we assign the code of sign and symptoms like Cough, Shortness of Breath, Fever, tasteless etc.
